Waronoke Vigil 3-25-06
The vigil was held at the Westfield Green as part of a week of
vigils held around
the world marking the third anniversary of the beginning of the
Bush administration's war of choice in Iraq. Signs documented the cost
to date in deaths and debt and encouraged fellow citizens to demand an
end to the
occupation of Iraq by American military forces. About twenty five
enthusiastic sign holders joined the vigil. Participants included
representatives from Students
for Peace and Justice at Westfield State College, Veterans for Peace, and West
Springfield
Citizens for Peace. Many drivers honked their horns and gave a
thumbs-up to show their support and agreement.
