WARoNOke Peace Action Group

January 27, 1007 Vigil

From 10:30 a.m. to noon on the Westfield Green, the WARoNOke Peace Action Group sponsored a sign holding visibility to give area residents a chance to show they REALLY SUPPORT OUR TROOPS trapped in Iraq's civil war and want our government to BRING ALL OUR TROOPS HOME SAFELY NOW from Iraq's civil war.

This local event was also in support of the massive march on Washington, D.C. held the same day.

Approximately 25 people turned out, including members of the West Springfield Citizens for Peace, Vetrerans for Peace, and area residents not belonging to any organized groups.

We were pleased by the large number of "thumbs-up" signs from passing drivers, indicating their support for bringing our troops home safely now.

This was a major contrast to the hand gestures we received in early 2003 - before most people realized that our troops were being sent into what those who knew Iraq best were predicting would become a Vietnam-like quagmire.

The event was reported in the Reminder newspaper.
